Here’s a few helpful hints to keep your pearly whites white.
First is a regular trip to the dentist. Many fear the dentists office with a passion, avoiding the chair and the plastic-backed cloths like the plague. However, it pays off to keep your teeth white. Make sure you visit your dentist at least once, preferably twice per year. Good oral hygiene will be the first thing that keeps your teeth white, disease free, and healthy. Brushing and flossing keeps plaque and bacteria from congregating on your teeth. Keeping a clean mouth will aid greatly in improving the brightness of your teeth. Germs can also make your breath smell bad.
Try to avoid smoking. I know this can really be a pain, but your body will thank you and your teeth will thank you. Smoking contains tars and other chemicals that easily stain teeth on the enamel. Quitting smoking now would be among the best things you can do for your smile. Also, tea, coffee, and cola drinks can cause some damage as well, so wash your mouth out well after drinking these beverages.
Fruits can be amazing tooth whiteners. Strawberries, when ground up into a paste makes an excellent whitener, as does the inside of orange peels. In some cases, a lemon juice and salt mixture works wonders.
Is there anything Baking Soda can’t do? OK, well, there probably is, but it has long been used as a teeth whitener; in fact, many toothpastes use this as an ingredient. Baking soda not only contains cleaning and whitening agents, but it is also an abrasive that will remove tough stains from your teeth. Just dip your toothbrush in baking soda and brush with it.
Raw fruits and vegetables also whiten teeth; just remember to get the spinach out of your teeth when you’re finished! Wash your mouth out after eating apples or potatoes, as these have been known to, in some cases, cause tooth stains.
Drink plenty of water, avoid mouthwash, and enjoy a bright, clean smile!
